ED

Social Beats

Ed’s musical development started at a very early age as both his father and uncle played guitar in leading local bands. At home Ed grew up listening to his fathers record collection with artists like The Eagles, The Shadows and Don McClean. During the seventies, Ed already climbed the stage on a regular basis to perform with his first band ‘Second Flight’.

During the eighties and nineties ED was heavily inspired by rock music and artists like Steve Lukather (Toto, Los Lobotomys), AC/DC, DIO, Yes, Marillion and Protocol. No longer was ED inspired only by their guitar playing, their sounds and timing, he also started paying more and more attention to music production.

Over time, Ed’s attention 'evolved' to the craft of songwriting, especially telling an instrumental story instead of showing off with fast riffs. Guitarists Andy Timmons and Allen Hinds are great examples of this approach as well. So that’s exactly what ED tried to achieve on his debut album. ‘Although the album mainly contains instrumentals, I think every song tells it’s own tale like any song should” says Edwin.
