The Houdini's

The Houdini's are one of the Netherlands' most celebrated hard bop jazz groups - a band whose live energy once reminded a young Phil Martin that jazz could be pure, uninhibited fun. What's Nu? is the result of that long-standing admiration: a project in which Martin brought The Houdini's into the studio to re-record their finest material with fresh production.

To push the project further, Martin invited several guest producers to reinterpret the tracks, revealing that The Houdini's' catalogue is not just swinging jazz but also funky, danceable and impossible to resist. The album captures the raw power of a band that has always played jazz with the energy of a rock 'n' roll group.
