Mystical Funk

Before Social Beats existed, Phil Martin put out his debut album Mystical Funk on Feelgood Records. He wrote, recorded, arranged and performed all the music himself, with help from Ton van der Kolk on bass and Ron Smith on guitar.

Mystical Funk is a groove-driven journey through afro funk, sample-based production and jazzy arrangements. The album established Phil Martin as a versatile producer and musician, laying the groundwork for everything that Social Beats would become.
